ABOUT THE STUDIO
Our Story
I first met during the summer of ‘93 when I worked at Surfer’s Union, the local surf store on Grand Central Ave in Lavallette, NJ. Truth be told, David was my boss, though he spent more time in the ocean surfing than managing the store. I spent just as much time painting the ever changing sun, setting over the bay,
Then one night during the summer of ‘98, David proposed to me at the gazebo on the beach two blocks from Beach House Studio.
Fast forward 26 summers and we have built a crazy, wonderful life together that revolves around our two children, Alyssa and Jack, and our Doodle, Finn.
Life has not always been easy for us but it certainly hasn’t been boring either!
The summer of ‘22, marked the moment our lives come full circle. We were back in Lavallette, back by the beach, and back to working together at Beach House Studio, our newest adventure. Just like Surfer’s Union was a legendary surf store for the surf community, I hope Beach House Studio will be the legendary space for the creative community.
I am thankful to share my love for the ocean, and for art, with the local community. Create something every day. Be present. Let the ocean inspire you.
MY MISSION
I believe that everyone, regardless of age, possesses creativity.
Harnessing this creativity can be a beneficial way to decrease stress, boost your mood, and enhance mental acuity. Upon entering my space, you might initially doubt your creativity and feel uncertain or anxious. However, after your time at Beach House Studio, my goal is for you to leave feeling inspired, confident, energized, and invigorated!
MY THOUGHTS
I’ve always believed that life is about creating something meaningful to inspire others. I didn’t realize how much that would become my purpose until I became a teacher, an artist, and a mother. These three roles have shaped who I am.
Teaching is more than just a job for me—it is my calling. Teaching art is my passion. I teach my students, young and old, how to tap into their own creativity and unlock a part of themselves they might not know exists.
Life has thrown challenges my way, and while I have not always been able to make sense of them, I have learned to trust the process. I do my best, then I give it up to God. Sometimes, the only thing I can do is create lemonade out of lemons.
The beach has always been my sanctuary. Whenever I need to recharge, to clear my head, I go there. It’s where I feel closest to my true self. Opening up my own art studio, Beach House Studio, a block from the beach, was a dream for me. Having my own small business is not always easy, but it is always worth it. There is nothing more fulfilling than doing what I love to do and spending time with people who bring good vibes and positivity into my space. I am grateful for every moment, for every opportunity I get to create something, and for every person who walks the creative journey with me.
MY VISION
Creativity thrives on communal energy.
While some envision an art studio as a solitary retreat for artists to contemplate and create, my vision is different. Here, solitude is not the norm. My dream is to establish a vibrant coastal community of creatives, coming together for generations around our creative table.
MY PURPOSE
I believe in integrating creativity into your daily routine to encourage mindfulness, awareness, and a deeper connection with the world around you.
For me, creativity is about self expression, not imitation. I focus on the journey of creating, exploring, experimenting, and working together. Everything that is produced and experienced here is special and a reflection of your individuality. My goal is to help you embrace creativity as an act of self-love.

Bhslava is a creative studio space that offers summer art camp, kid art classes, all-level yoga classes, mommy and me time, creativity & wellness workshops, paint parties, open studio art hour, and special local pop-up events. We are a business local to Lavallette, NJ, and happy to be a part of the Lavallette Business Association. We celebrated our one year in business in May, 2023! We are proud to partner with other small woman-owned businesses to offer a full schedule of classes in our welcoming, judgment-free space where everyone is encouraged to gather together for creating, learning, and self-care!

I am proud to provide our local clients with weekly classes and pop up art +wellness events that cultivate their mind body connections and help them to find strength, balance and peace both on and off of the mat!
Ashley DeSaro, owner of Pure, brings high quality yoga teachers to my studio to lead a variety of all level classes. Her teachers are committed to sharing their unique styles of yoga practices with us while focusing on proper alignment and breathing. They encourage us to let go of what is not serving us and to honor the light, love, truth, beauty and peace within.

We are located at 1605 Grand Central Ave. in Lavallette, NJ. The entrance is on the corner of Route 35 North and Pennsylvania Ave. We are between landmarks of Lavallette Hardware and Salty’s Ice Cream Parlour. Look for the turquoise chairs and the flags and you will find us.
